The house was designed by local architect Gavin Dale. Passive solar design was central to the concept of this house, with great deal of thermal mass on the inside walls, and windows which are located to take advantage of the winter sun. Winter sun enters through the many north facing windows, and the heat distributed at night through the thermal mass in walls and floors.the opposite occurs in the summer with strategically placed awnings to shield the windows in summer. There is a ducted revers cycle AC if required. The house was designed to highlight living around the kitchen as the centre of the house as well as being open to the outdoors and being able to transition easily between the kitchen and patio. There are two living areas with one able to be a media or rumpus room with plenty of space. A large vaulted ceiling and exposed structural trusses give a sense of space. A hidden pantry supplies more storage than normal to the kitchen. The kitchen features a user friendly stainless steel tops and Ariston cooker and a 3m long breakfast bar.
